Dr. French was born and raised in Northwest Montana, living in Eureka for the first 18 years of his life. Those 18 years revolved around the mountains, basketball, and family.
Dr. French’s mother Priscilla was a teacher and homemaker. His father Davy was a dentist. Both ahead of their time, Bayne was raised on wild game and garden food. He was taught how to work, prepare, and dream. Anything of merit Dr. French has ever done or will ever do, he attributes to his parents.
After high school 14 additional years of study were embarked upon. He played basketball at Carroll College in Helena MT and also attended the University of Montana. After a year off for world travel, he began Chiropractic studies at Western States Chiropractic College in Portland, Oregon, graduating with a Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.) in 1996. Months later he entered medical school, graduating from the University of Washington School of Medicine in 2000.
An Alaska era then ensued. Dr French trained for three years at the Alaska Family Practice Residency in Anchorage. His first son Highland was born there. After residency, a job in the remote village of Dillingham was accepted where four amazing years were spent living with, treating, and learning from the Yupik native Alaskan people. He was responsible for a vast area encompassing dozens of small villages, accessible only by plane or boat. Dr. French often describes his time there as a combination of wonderment, adventure, and terror.
In 2007 a move to Whitefish MT was next, and a primary care position at Glacier Medical Associates (GMA). Eighteen rewarding years were spent there, practicing a broad scope of Family and Obesity Medicine.
It was at GMA that his passions for metabolic wellness, disease prevention, and medical weight loss were able to expand. Dr. French considers himself extremely fortunate to have partnered with visionary and hard-working physician owners and have the latitude to practice is a meaningful way.
In 2013 Dr. French’s second son Rowan was born. When not parenting, working, coaching, or exercising, he’s likely in the mountains where he’s most at peace, alone or with those he loves.
Dr. French has two board certifications, in Family Medicine and Obesity Medicine.
